Path breaking solutions for grape growers – UPL’s Winero and Bionse

Improves produce exportability and farmer incomes significantly

Mumbai, 31 May, 2022: UPL Ltd., a global provider of sustainable agriculture products and solutions, with the aim to overcome Downy and Powdery Mildew in grape crop offers path breaking bio solutions – Winero & Bionse. The products address the pressing issues of Maximum Residue Limit and resistance management faced by the grape farmers, which are key hurdles in qualifying for export.

Growers exporting grapes are reluctant using chemicals after 55 days of pruning to comply with strict export regulations and as a result, export consignments are often rejected citing concerns of maximum residue level. Winero & Bionse’s unique characteristics aid in longer-term control and address concerns of maximum residue limits. Their bio stimulating qualities help Grapes preserve their quality longer and attract higher prices. With limited alternatives and increasing impact of climate change, Bio solutions are the need of the hour.

Winero can be used in the early phases from pre-bloom to cap fall in conjunction with chemical products to develop systemic acquired resistance against  Downy Mildew . Bionse on the other hand, can be used in conjunction with chemical products from the Berry setting stage onwards to help build plant systemic acquired resistance to Powdery Mildew.

Ashish Dobhal, Director India region from UPL said, “At UPL, we are committed to the well-being and success of our core stakeholders, the farmers. We hope to supply farmers with sustainable products under our NPP(Natural Plant Protection) BU that will enhance their financial situation through innovation. Winero & Bionse, with their path breaking residue control and resistance management features, will be a game changer for grape growers in terms of additional income and disease control”.

“I grow grapes for export on 11 acres of land,” Bhushan Rajendra Shinde, a Nashik farmer, said. “I’ve used pesticides to combat Downy and Powdery Mildew, but they leave residue in the grapes making it impossible to export . I realised there was a need for residue-free bio solutions. I used Winero and Bionse on my grape crop thanks to UPL’s help. Initially, I applied two sprays of Winero on the 45th  and 52nd  days after pruning followed by  two sprays of Bionse on the 70th  and 75th days after pruning. The weather was inconsistent when I was using UPL’s bio solutions, but I still obtained export quality grapes. My grapes were residue-free, and I was able to export them with ease. I’m grateful to UPL for Winero and Bionse”.
