Successful execution of BMS Society of Sydenham College Finance Conclave 2023 I

The phenomenal finance conclave hosted by the BMS Society held on the 9th of September 2023 at the Sydenham college of Commerce and Economics was a momentous gathering of distinguished individuals and experts from the world of finance who came together, as a mesmerizing journey unfolded with insightful discussions and debates. Happening for the FIRST time in South Bombay, the college raised the bars high with the even more fulfilling outcome.

The event commenced with a warm and gracious welcome extended to all the respected guests who had gathered to take part in this profound conflux of financial minds.

Finance Conclave was a team of 128 young minds that brainstormed and executed the entire day under the exceptional leadership of Ms . Sanika Satoskar and Mr.Mihir Dhakshikar(Chairperson and Co-chairperson of BMS society) under the guidance of Dr. Jharna Kalra , the course coordinator and prof. Incharge of BMS society. She’s been the biggest support and cheerleader to the students throughout and this event would be impossible without her.

The conclave was officially inaugurated with the lighting of the lamp symbolizing the field of finance. The Principal of Sydenham College of Commerce & economics Dr. Shriniwas Dhure, delivered a warm welcome address, which emphasized the importance of finance gatherings such as this. Adding to that, the event included felicitation of the esteemed speakers and Dr Jharna Kalra presented the chairperson and co chairperson with momentos respectively. The chairperson Ms. Sanika awarded Dr. Jharna Kalra with the momento and both of their brilliant minds lead to the Finance conclave being a big scale event.

The audience was taken on a riveting journey with three exceptional keynote speakers. who were the highlight of the conclave: Mr. Robin Banerjee who is the chairman of Nucleon Research Ute. with an experience of 20 years, he covered a plethora of topics on the subiect of demand & supply which included GST. Mr. Banerjee also covered the topic of the how real estate affects the economy and in addition to that concluded how demonetization is the most significant change for the country and its aftereffects .

The second speaker was Mr. K.V. Premraj, a stellar in the world of banking, spanned over various topics such as mobile banking, computerisation in banking, cryptocurrency and investment banking.

Last but not the least, Dr. Shashank Rawale. a visionary in the stock market field covered innumerable topics related to the how & the why of the intriguing world of the stock market. He’s helped more than 85,000 people play and survive the market.

The grand finale of the conclave was a sensational panel discussion on the intersection of investment & fintech. Distinguished experts & practitioners such as Dr. Sheetal Nair,Dr. Shashank Rawale and Mr. Vinay Mavani engaged in a lively exchange of ideas alongside the host Ms. Sneha Patel. The discussion explored topics such as Al (technical analysis), Algo training, cyber security, education post covid and prompt engineering.

The BMS society also planned interesting games for all the finance enthusiasts!

Badla stock exchange and cash flow carnival were the game changers of the big day. A whopping number of 30+ colleges and over 500 students joined them to make it a far- reaching initiative and showed great enthusiasm throughout. This being a certified event presented all the attendees with a beautiful certificate in honour of their engagement and eagerness to learn.

The Cash Flow Carnival kicked off with a challenging Finance Quiz.Questions ranged from basic finance concepts to advanced economic theories. Only the top four teams with the highest scores qualified for the next round, intensifying the competition.

The second round brought an entertaining twist to the event by incorporating popular movies related to finance. Teams had to guess movie titles based on clues acted out in a game of Dumb Charades.

The final round of the Cash Flow Carnival was a high-stakes game of musical chairs, but with a finance-themed twist. The team members came in the pair of two and would answer questions based on topics like taxing, Cryptocurrency, money market etc. The Cash Flow Carnival  exemplified the notion that finance can be both fun and educational, and it undoubtedly left a lasting impression on all those who participated.

Another eye catching game was Badla stock exchange, reminiscing trading in the older times. Hosted by Mr. Vinit in the foyer, It was played between 8 players in different slots having to buy shares each round. The person with the maximum net worth and equity capital at the end achieved the podium. The event was basically a way to teach students personal finances and help them analyse their environment.

Overall, the event was a big success and the BMS society was prouder than ever with the engagement they got , as their hearts were filled with gratitude to witness the history created on Finance Conclave day.
